Shana Thornton Appointed Deputy County Historian for Montgomery County, TN.
FALL 2023: Shana Thornton was appointed the Montgomery County Deputy Historian. Her appointment was approved by the Montgomery County Commission. Shana is the Founder of THE CLARKSVILLE/MONTGOMERY COUNTY AFRICAN AMERICAN LEGACY TRAIL, unveiled in 2019. The appointment lasts for a minimum of seven years.

VIOLETS ON THE VERANDA: Shana Thornton was the recipient of a 2019 Violet Award for service from The Clarksville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She was given the award for Founding THE CLARKSVILLE/MONTGOMERY COUNTY AFRICAN AMERICAN LEGACY TRAIL which was unveiled in 2019. Shana began work on the Legacy Trail as early as 2016/2017. She was shocked and honored to receive the award.

She also donates on behalf of Thorncraft Publishing & from her personal author sales to non-profit organizations. For each book released by Shana Thornton, author, she has chosen a non-profit & donated
To serve is to live, and that is an honor. Shana Thornton creates free community projects & services in addition to her job at Thorncraft. She also donates on behalf of Thorncraft Publishing & from her personal author sales to non-profit organizations. For each book released by Shana Thornton, author, she has chosen a non-profit & donated part of the sales of her personal books. Since 2012, donations have been made to the following non-profit and/or service organizations: Wear Blue: Run to Remember, Wounded Warrior Project, Manna Cafe, Susan G. Komen Foundation, The Roxy Regional Theatre, Dunbar Cave State Natural Area, and Customs House Museum & Cultural Center.
Community Projects include:
1. THE CLARKSVILLE/MONTGOMERY COUNTY AFRICAN AMERICAN LEGACY TRAIL
2. "The Montgomery County Chronicles: A Tribute to History, Community, and Leadership" (stage play) FREE performances as well as a donation of the rights of the play to the Clarksville/Montgomery County School System.
